The Sunday School Team ‘The Ark’

Lucy Mortlock

Lucy Mortlock

My name is Lucy Mortlock. I am married to Andy and we have 2 children.

I am a full-time mum to Thomas and Anna, Andy works for BT and we have attended RCF since 1991.

As Co-ordinator for The Ark I see my roles as being a “voice” for the children at RCF, providing encouragement and information to the teachers and helpers and being a link between them and the church leadership. I also co-ordinate the events organised for the children, for example, summer sports afternoon, annual party and involvement in morning services.

Lucy also manages Toys ‘n’ noise club.

Teachers at The Ark include:

Helen French, Elizabeth Jolley, Denise Durston, Niki Jackson.

Youth

Beth Askew

THYC is an evangelistic youth club for 11-14’s at Tower Hall. We meet each Sunday evening to play pool, table tennis, table football or Wii, munch food from the tuck shop or just chill and chat. Each evening there is an ‘organised activity’ of sorts, and a short speech tailored to provoke questions and conversation with the young people about God and His bearing on their lives.

Impact is our Sunday morning ’sessions’ for 11-14’s. Most Sundays we leave part-way through the service, and we’re currently making our way through the book of Mark – aiming to do so in a variety of styles and ways. We also meet for breakfasts and lunches every now and then, and tailor our ’sessions’ around that.

We also aim to cater for the 14-18’s through one-to-one discipleship and meeting up for coffee and a chat, as well as aiming to link all of the young people in with serving opportunities within the church and town-wide youth events run by CYM, for example The Platform (11-14’s) and Eight (14-18’s).

Public Relations Coordinator

Nigel Cox

Nigel Cox

Nigel has three children, Becky, Matthew and Megan.

I started attending RCF some 30 years ago when I accompanied my younger brother and parents. From those early years and having become a Christian in 1976, RCF has been part of my life and I have enjoyed seeing the church grow and being involved in the various activities.
My duty presently involves overseeing miscellaneous tasks. These include newsletters, creating rotas and coordinating bookings for venues. My role is made that much easier, as all the hard work is performed by willing members of the church who give of their time, as part of their service to Christ

Niki is married to Mark and they have a Dalmatian called Ellie. They are new Christians and joined RCF in December 2008.I am a full time artist specialising in mixed media painting and website design and am using my artistic gifts for the creative areas of Rushmere Christian Fellowship. I love all things creative so it is a joy to be able to design and maintain this website and be part of the creative areas of the church. I also love working with the kids in The Ark, they are so much fun!
